The event crafted a narrative that resonates with universal truths, inviting audiences to embark on a poetic odyssey that delves into the complexities of identity, history, heritage, and societal structures.
Beyond the mesmerising performances at an Open Mic night and a grand Poetry concert, the event features workshops and panels that provide a deeper understanding of the creative process and explore the intersection of poetry, art, and societal change.
The theme “Poetry a painting” saw the Artist Sharon Dede Padi, the CEO of Padiki Art Gallery being a heritage painter and a Poet, interact with the audience on poetry a painting and painting a poetry.
On the second day, the Artist Sharon Dede Padi at National Theatre with her encounter with the audience said, “poetry a painting” is an emphasis; poetry gives a description of an unseen which could be art.
She further explained that to give a better understanding of a painting, concept is expressed through poetry to the understanding of the viewer hence the published of her poetry Book “REFLEXIONS” written on hundred of her Art works and a typical example of poetry a painting.
The Artist had a painting session with the audience while some of them came up with poetry at the British Council on the third day. The event continued and end on Thursday with a mega concert at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel where the renowned poet Apiokor gave the artistry skill of her poem recital while the multiple award winning Artist, Sharon Dede Padi paintings on stage to give a concrete meaning of the poem with the audience.
The “ Matriarch Verse” experience 2023 was successful and relevant.
